What is a Background Check?
Background Check is a process to screen those individuals that register to use the Arise Platform. This screening helps us ensure that the individuals intending to work with us are free of disqualifying criminal history and that their identity is validated.
What is cost of a Background Check?
A Background Check application will cost $34.00 CAD irrespective of the outcome.
​Once cleared, a Background Check result will be considered valid for 36 months (3 years).
How long is the Background Check result valid for?
​Once cleared, a Background Check result will be valid for 36 months (3 years). If you apply for another job opportunity with us within next 36 months of clearing the Background Check, you will not be required to pay for the Background Check again.
Why do I have to complete a Background Check?
Arise clients provide access to their confidential customer information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and credit card data etc. through Arise Platform with you. Hence, a Background Check is required by our clients for the security purpose. The Background Check is a process to screen those individuals that register to use the Arise Platform. This screening helps us ensure that the individuals intending to work with us are free of disqualifying criminal history and that their identity is validated.

Arise does not allow usage of the Arise platform by anyone who has been convicted of or have pled guilty to certain felony or misdemeanor charges; including but not limited to theft, fraud, identity theft, or other similar violations.

What is involved in a Background Check?
The Background Check consists of 2 parts: ID Verification and Canadian Criminal Record Check.

ID Verification

This part validates the given information (such as Name, DOB, Address, SIN, Drivers License etc.) as valid, matching, and belonging to the Registrant.

This part must be Clear in order for the Registrant to continue to the Canadian Criminal Record Check part of the Background Check process.

This part checks for disqualifying criminal history.

A Clear result must be returned to Arise in order for the Registrant to continue registration with Arise.
Who conducts the Background Check?
Background Checks are conducted by a third party vendor - First Advantage Canada

How long does it take to receive the result of my Background Check application?
Processing of the background check takes an average 5-10 business days. Registrants are advised to monitor their emails and phones as the vendor may reach the registrant directly if additional information is needed to process the check. Since different email providers treat certain incoming emails differently, it is strongly recommended that you monitor the Spam/Junk mail folders in your email inbox. Vendor sends a "Clear" or "Not Clear" results for each of the reports. A "Not Clear" result for any part of the background check result means the background check did not clear and therefore the registrant is ineligible to continue to the next step of Registration to Servicing Journey.
What happens if I fail my Background Check?
If you fail the Background Check

You will be considered ineligible and hence cannot continue your application unless your background check application is cleared.

You may reach out to the First Advantage Canada directly to see if you can provide any additional piece of information to help clear your file.

It is at the sole discretion of First Advantage Canada to determine if they are willing to re-process your application.

Arise or MPower are not authorized to intervene in this process.

If your file gets cleared up after a re-process "and" if the opportunity is still available, you may proceed to the next step of Registration to Servicing Journey.

If the file gets cleared up after a re-process "and" if the opportunity is filled out by that time, you will not be able to proceed to the next step and will have to wait for the next available opportunity.

If the file does not get cleared up after a re-process, you will be considered ineligible and hence cannot continue your application unless your background check application is cleared.
How can I dispute my Background Check result?
Please note that since your Background Check result is based on individual's history, it is completely out of Arise's or MPower's scope to help you disputing your Background Check result.
